Housing for Homeless Youth
This shelter (located in Copenhagen, Denmark) is specifically designed for at risk and homeless youth, and it aims to provide safety, security, and support for those who have no place to call home. The ground floor’s outdoor soup kitchen provides daily meals for any and all in our community, and the completely exterior plan allows circulation between the street and adjacent courtyards. The building provides a sense of safety and comfort for its visitors by placing emphasis on three key architectural features: 1. An open floor plan creates high visibility and transparency within, providing visitors with an awareness of their surroundings at all times. 2. A facade that limits visibility into the building allows visitors a private, safe space away from the public eye. 3. Communal spaces on each floor encourage interaction and connection among the visitors.
